Today we celebrate five years of dedicated service and a well-earned retirement for Kathleen Summerour.Kathleen was part of the very first team hired when the Bridge Shelter opened, beginning her work as our Healthcare Navigator. She later served briefly as a Housing Case Manager before returning to the Bridge as our HMIS Coordinator, where she played an essential role in supporting shelter operations and ensuring accurate data and coordinated services.In her work at the Bridge, Kathleen helped support residents and guests accessing essential services including meals, showers, and cold weather shelter. She consistently demonstrated empathy and compassion, treating those we serve with dignity and respect.Her commitment to our mission and care for our community have made a lasting impact. Yesterday, our team was on-site at the County of Volusia Resource Center hosted by the American Red Cross to support the 53 residents displaced by last week’s transportation incident at the Heritage Inn in Orange City.Partner agencies provided coordinated assistance to ensure families had access to food, clothing, housing support, and on-site application assistance.We are thankful to stand alongside community partners in moments like this.
