Inaugurated in September 2020, The Bridge serves as a symbol of hope and a vital resource for 30 single adults in the heart of DeLand. This facility is owned and funded by the City of DeLand and operated by The Neighborhood Center of West Volusia (NHCWV)—a powerful example of how community collaboration can address homelessness. The Bridge provides a holistic approach to care, offering a safe haven, essential daily services, and a pathway toward permanent stability.

Who We Serve

We serve unsheltered single adult men and women in the West Volusia area. Our facility can accommodate 14 women and 16 men at one time. We also serve as a Day Center for unsheltered community members.

What We Offer

The Bridge provides a multi-purpose environment centered around dignity and reintegration:

• Emergency Shelter: A temporary residence for up to 90 days.
• Services: Access to daily meals, showers, self-serve laundry facilities, and temporary lockers for personal items.
• Holistic Case Management (for shelter residents): Personalized support to navigate healthcare access, benefits assistance, and employment resources.
• Transitioning into Housing: Dedicated assistance in transitioning from the shelter to stable, permanent housing.
• Enrichment Activities: On-campus access to Bible study, AA/NA meetings, and other support groups.
• Extreme Weather Refuge: During cold spells, or storms, our community room transforms into an emergency overnight shelter for those in need.

Client Requirements

To maintain a safe and supportive community, Bridge residents must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a single adult (18+).
• Must adhere to all shelter safety and conduct policies.
• Actively work toward gaining employment within the program timeframe.
• Participate in regular case management meetings.
• Residents are strongly encouraged to engage in on-site recreational and educational activities.
• We do not accept registered sex offenders
