Springing up with Positivity

I am thrilled and honored to be serving as the Chief Executive Officer for the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia (NHCWV). The support and encouragement I have received from the community, staff, clients, Board of Directors, and volunteers has been incredible. The NHCWV is truly a special place that makes a difference in the lives of residents in DeLand and West Volusia County.
Coming into this position, I am focusing on three key areas in my first ninety days, including telling our story, transparent communication, and investing in our employees.
In my first two months, I have found that there is so much good that happens at the NHCWV. We want the world to know about our organization’s impact on the community and celebrate the many individuals and organizations that have supported our efforts. We encourage you to follow our social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to see what’s happening at the NHCWV daily.
With the challenges due to the COVID pandemic and the increasing needs of our clients, our employees have been working incredibly hard. Some strategies the board and my leadership team are implementing to ensure our employees have the support they need include employee recognition, additional personal and professional development opportunities, conducting a compensation review, prioritizing work/life balance, and creating a solid orientation process for new employees. I believe our employees are one of the most significant assets we have. Their work is not always easy, so we want to make sure they feel valued and supported.
What does the future hold for the NHCWV? We will be launching a strategic planning process in a few months and inviting the community to provide input to help us identify our priorities for the next five years. It is an exciting time for the NHCWV, and we would not be where we are today without the fantastic support from so many in our community.
I hope to see you at our upcoming fundraiser Rockin’ Hearts for the Homeless, on Saturday, May 14th, from 2-7 pm at Earl Brown Park.
It promises to be a fun family event to benefit our homeless prevention programs.
In community,
Savannah-Jane Griffin
